Before I sign off today, I wanted to include a poster I saw online from iheartguts.com on breast self exams. I do these exams regularly and, around 15 years ago, I found a lump in my left breast. I was shocked and scared - I definitely did my routine self exams never thinking I would find anything. The next weeks and months were extremely stressful - I went through a series of tests (mammograms are very uncomfortable and awkward when you have barely any breast tissue) and the doctors eventually determined it was a cyst. Thankfully, the lump went away on its own but I still want to stress the importance of doing self exams regularly. It is generally recommended to do self exams monthly... I typically do them when I remember, which can be as frequently as every 2 weeks.
